The Battle Continues
The 7th grade class along with Balfour Roughriders 4H have a competition taking place in both the elementary and the high school. Students are to bring in items that will be donated to our local food pantry! The event has been extended, and the community is welcome to participate. Please drop off any items you would like to donate at either school. The competition ends this Friday, November 17th.

The 2023 school garden season was very successful! This year, Deb kept track of how much produce was picked all season. Once the numbers were gathered, Miss Gilbertson created a bulletin board in the hallway to share with everyone, showcasing the price of seeds, yield picked, and average value if bought from a grocery store.
There was also a schoolwide contest guessing how many pumpkins were picked and how heavy the biggest pumpkin weighed (it was a lot lighter than it looked!). All the data is shown in the pictures below.
The school garden is fortunate to have so many great helping hands! A special thanks goes to Deb and Kevin Reinowski, Elaine Zakopyko, Linda Dusek, and the students and staff from the 21st Century after school program and/or summer program. 🥦🥒🥕🌽

Friendly reminder- No school tomorrow, November 10!

One Act Play matinee performance at 1:00 today at the high school. The community is welcome to attend!
Reminder: Early out tomorrow. Shuttle buses at 1:30. Route buses at 1:45.
Reminder: Students should not stay unsupervised after school. As much as we love our students, it is not the responsibility of the teachers or administration to watch over them outside of school hours. Therefore, it is essential that your child has a safe and supervised place to go after school, especially before the start of games or other school activities that may occur later in the evening. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We appreciate your support in creating a safe and secure environment for our students.
🎉BOTH Junior High CyberMadness teams are headed to State! 🖤🤍🖤🤍More information and pictures to come next week. ☺️

Drake November Menu/Events

❗Parents and community members, we need your help!❗
As we enter the month of November, a time to express gratitude, we wanted to reach out and ask for your help. Our schools are blessed with incredible staff members, and we believe your words of appreciation would mean the world to them.
Please take a moment to fill out this Google form and share why you are grateful for a staff member or members at our school. You can submit as many times as you like, providing the staff member's name and a positive write-up. Don't forget to sign your family's name too!
Your kind words will be shared with the staff and gratitude posts will be displayed throughout the month. Remember, our school functions thanks to many amazing individuals.
Thank you for all your help!

Ghosts, goblins, & ghouls, oh my! 👻 The kitchen crew always has a spooktacular lunch in store for the kids on Halloween! 🎃 October was also National Farm to School Month. In celebration, States throughout the Mountain Plains Region (CO, MT, MO, KS, NE, ND, SD, WY) are competing to see which State can get the most “crunches” into a local apple, or other local produce, per capita. All students and staff received an apple and bit into it at the same time.🍏 #mountainplainscrunch

October was National Bullying Prevention Month. In counseling with Mrs. Uhlich, the Kindergarten through 3rd graders learned about making and keeping friends. The students created a “spot of friendship” inspired by the book A Little Spot Makes Friends by Diane Alber. Students were to describe what friendship means to them and write or draw it on their spot!
